February 28, 2013 | IU Art Museum Third Floor Office Conference Room | 12-1PM

The Indiana University Art Museum’s commitment to showcasing African American art dates to the 1969 exhibition Four Artists.  In this special behind-the-scenes viewing, Nan Brewer, the museum’s Lucienne M. Glaubinger Curator of Works on Paper, will discuss work by two of the artists featured in that seminal exhibition, Richard Hunt and John E. Dowell, Jr., as well as works by Romare Bearden, Sam Gilliam, Eldzier Cortor, Richard Mayhew, Gordon Parks, Lorna Simpson, Carl Pope, Felrath Hines, John Wilson, Adrian Piper, and Bill Traylor.  We will also be viewing pieces by Renee Stout which are currently featured at the IU Art Museum.  Information on Stout:
