Monday, October 28th | IU Auditorium | Keynote 3 PM, Reception 4 – 5 PM
Join Provost Lauren Robel and IU First Lady Laurie Burns McRobbie to celebrate the official launch of the IU Center of Excellence for Women in Technology (CEWiT). The celebration begins with a keynote address by Dr. Moira Gunn, host of National Public Radio’s Tech Nation. Her talk, “Life Choices in a Digitally Connected World,” is also included as part of the College of Arts and Sciences’ Themester, and will focus on the role of digital technology and networking in shaping future careers. Immediately following the ceremony is a reception and technology showcase in the IU Auditorium lobby, featuring demonstrations by IU women, including Google Glass, interactive robots, 3-D printing, e-textiles, research posters, and more.
The overarching goal of CEWIT is to encourage, empower, and advance Indiana University women faculty, staff, and students across multiple disciplines, schools, and units by opening opportunities and advancing professional development in the realms of technology and computing. The center’s interdisciplinary, unified approach serves as a national model to address the need to increase participation of women in technology-related fields.
