Hey soc students!
Are you interested in social psychology? Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 7 PM SOC-IU will be hosting a talk given by our own Alex Lu, a sociology graduate student, entitled “Stressful Experiences of Masculinity among U.S.-born and Immigrant Asian American Men.” He will discuss his research on how Asian-American men experience stress as a result of trying to meet stereotypical American expectations of masculinity (such as being athletic, “manly”, and popular among women, among other things) and failing (or perceiving that they are failing) to do so. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session about Alex’s research. Then, if you’re interested, stay after for a brief SOC-IU general meeting to learn more about SOC-IU and how you can get involved! Pizza and soda will be provided:)
As always, e-mail me at email@example.com if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!
